Clowning Around with Jimbo at DragCon

From Endless Queues to Laughter Waves, A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Reigning Queen's Magical Connection with Fans

The weekend kicked off with a stroll along the Thames River, capturing iconic landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben. A quick tour through Picadilly Circus, Chinatown, and Soho added a touch of London's charm to my DragCon adventure.

As DragCon set up shop, the excitement escalated. A surprise Disney 100 Exhibit at Excel London and a stroll through a nearby market added unexpected delights to the weekend.

Fast forward to Saturday morning, where I found myself at the heart of the action, helping the fabulous Jimbo and her team prepare for the Queen's Walk. The line to meet Jimbo, which seemingly started from somewhere around Buckingham Palace and looped around Thames River, crossed Abbey Road and ended at DragCon Booth Number A62, showcased the incredible fandom Jimbo has cultivated in the UK.

Assigned to capture the magic on camera, I witnessed Jimbo's unparalleled connection with fans. From autographs on T-shirts to impromptu tattoo signings, Jimbo's personal touch turned each encounter into a memorable moment. The contagious laughter that rippled through the crowd created a unique energy – a laugh wave, if you will.

Noteworthy queens like Jessica Wild, Venus, Gisele Lullaby, and Tynomi Banks joined the fun, making Jimbo's booth a hub of drag royalty. A special guest appearance by Jimbo's mother added an extra layer of warmth, turning the House of Jimbo into a close-knit family affair.

In the midst of the chaos, Jimbo's work ethic shone bright. With minimal breaks, this drag superstar worked her magic, proving that she truly knows how to WERK. The rest of the team, including Brady, Kyle, Emily, and Andrew, hustled alongside her, managing a merch frenzy that rivaled Black Friday.

As a witness to this whirlwind of glitter, laughter, and sheer dedication, I left DragCon UK 2024 with a new Jimbo hoodie, a heart full of joy, and an even deeper admiration for this hardworking queen. While I patiently await a potential All Winners season appearance, catching Jimbo on the Drag Circus Tour seems like the perfect interim fix – a tour that promises to dazzle over 50 cities across Canada and the US.

Join us for the premiere at Royal Oak Music Theatre in Royal Oak, Michigan on Thursday February 29th.

For now, I'll continue pouring my passion into DRAG MAG until a room becomes available in the House of Jimbo, because in that house, I've found a place that feels like HOME.
